Charting a running total or cumulative sum of your data is easy to do in our Data Pipeline.
First, open your existing chart or create a new chart. At minimum, you’ll need the measure for which you’d like to keep a running total, and a dimension. For your dimension, you’ll likely want to use a date with a time bucket of your choice. Once you’ve dragged and dropped your selections, click Run Query.
In this example, I’m using the total sum of Amount for the Measure, and the month of Payment Date for the Dimension.
In your Data Pipeline, click Add Transformation and choose Add Column. Name your column, select Running total as your formula type, and select the column for which you’d like to have a running total.
In the chart type section, choose the line chart icon, then scroll to the top and click Save Chart.
Note: You can also add the running total to an existing column by choosing the Edit Column pipeline step and choosing the Running total formula type.
