Recent Chartio Improvements

Engineering at Chartio is constantly striving to make a better and more polished product for our customers. While you’ll always be the first to know about larger features announced like new databases and data sources we support, we also want to keep you up to date on the smaller improvements adding more functionality to Chartio. Just because an improvement or fix is small to implement doesn’t mean the impact for you is small and often vice-versa.

We’ll be highlighting some of the more interesting enhancements on a more regular basis. Here are some recent improvements that will help make Chartio better and easier to use.

Explicit PostgreSQL schema usage. Until recently, when connecting to Chartio, we only allowed the default schema for a user. This is usually “public”, but different users can have different default schemas. With this feature, you’ll be able to specify the schema explicitly. If this sounds dull to you, you’ll have to take my word that your database administrator is pleasantly nodding right now.

Offline detection. Chartio along with most web-based applications doesn’t allow updating information when your network isn’t working. Rather than having you click ‘Save’ only to lose your work and discover that your wifi was down, Chartio now detects that you’ve lost network connectivity and alerts you to fix it before continuing, and thereby averting some serious frustration.

Table join permissions issue fixed. When Chartio extracts your schema after connecting to a database, we sometimes messed up when your user had access to one table, but not to a table that joined your table. We now handle this case correctly and smoothly sign up databases in this configuration.

We’re working on big features (some coming out very shortly), but we look forward to keeping you informed about the smaller enhancements that make Chartio a better product every day. As always, if you have any feedback on the product or features you want to see, don’t hesitate to contact us at hello@chartio.com.

Chartio plugs into the world’s most popular data sources, giving customers more accessibility to company data to make better business decisions based on easy-to-read charts and dashboards.
