You can add a row total for any numeric column in a Table chart. Additionally, you can customize the aggregation type used for each column.
To do this, open a chart’s settings from the dashboard by selecting Edit Settings from a chart’s menu options.
You can also open this settings window in the Data Explorer by clicking the Edit Chart Data option from the menu options. For there, click on the Settings button above the chart preview to open the settings window.
On the General tab, check the Show row aggregation for numeric columns checkbox. You’ll see the aggregation row populated in the chart preview to the right of the settings.
When this box is checked, an additional option will appear below to Show aggregation at the top. Check this box if you would like your aggregation row to appear at the top of your Table chart. Click Done when finished.
The total row will always display at the bottom or top of the chart (depending on your selection), even if all of the rows don’t fit in the available chart space.
Tip: If you would like some of the aggregation rows to be treated as text and exclude them from being included in the aggregation row, you can simply cast them as text in the Data Pipeline. See how to do this in the following article: How to change a data type in the Pipeline.
Set custom aggregations for each column
The aggregation row defaults to sum for each numeric column. However, you can change the aggregation per column as needed.
To change the aggregation type, open the Chart Settings and switch to the Columns tab. Click the +Add New Formatting Rule button. Select your column from the dropdown and adjust the Aggregate Row setting to choose a custom aggregation. Once finished, click Done to save your customization.
